Do You Backup Regularly?
One way to avoid the mess of spending countless hours trying to recover data that has been lost on your computer is to perform regular backups. You should be doing some basic computer maintenance such as a full backup once a week, depending on how much you use your computer. A full back up is when you copy every file that is on your computer. Doing this can save you from losing all of your valuable information and it is something so simple and still you probably never think of it. This can be a time consuming process, but it will prevent you from losing your valuable files that you have on your computer. You should also backup the files as you modify them. So if you create a new document then you would back it up, you can have this done automatically with a backup program.
When you backup your files it's also important to have a copy of your data in some other place that on your computer and in your house. This is important because if something happens to your computer, like a fire or it's get stolen, then your backup files are gone as well. There are many sites online that offer this type of offsite backup. When searching for a good service provided for your back up you will want to make sure that there not a fly by company.
Because backup software is not cheap and you are required to manually do secure backups, many people don't feel that they really have to get it. But you need to think of what you can potentially be losing if for some reason your computer crashes, which this can happen for any number of reasons. Could you honestly do without your personal or business information that is stored on your computer. All that time and money you put into your computer you can see why it's important to backup your computer.
Another thing you should do is make copies of the program exe's that you have installed on your computer, as well as the registration codes. By putting these on a disc you are saving yourself weeks of contacting each of the companies and requesting a new registration codes, and god forbid you don't have your receipt from 5 years ago, there is a good chance that you will not be able to get it, and you will have to repurchase the program again. It' important that you know that there is always a chance that something can happen to you computer. But if you are prepared for this then it won't be as bad as it would have been. There are so many options available to make backing up your computer a simple process, so honestly there are no excuses why you aren't doing it right now.
