Data Storage

The Various Types Of Data Storage Devices

If you own a computer or laptop then you should be backing up your data one way or another. When it comes to storing your data there are many options that you can choose from. To name a few of them, Zip drives, flash drives, memory sticks, and CD-R/W drives. With these you may want to use a data backup software to make the process of backing up your storage much easier. Some of the storage devices come with software already, so you won't need to worry about what to purchase.

My favorite data storage is my flash drives. I have one filled with my million passwords, one for my business files and another for my program exe's. I store all of my pictures on yahoo, and also on my hard drive and on CD's. So I don't have to worry about losing all these irreplaceable files. I use to have a zip drive but I went through them so quickly for one reason or another and depending solely on CD's scares me entirely.

I wasn't always prepared for the unthinkable, at least not until it was far to late. You only seem to learn the hard way and it's unfortunate, because usually by then you lose a lot more than you want to even think about. Well it was about two or three years ago, when I was working late on my laptop trying to meet a deadline, and all of a sudden my computer went black. Now I save every few minutes so if something does happen that I won't lose too much to be so angry about (I learned that the hard way as well). But this time my computer would not come back on. I was frantic, all of the work that I had already done was completely gone and now there was no way that I was going to be able to meet the deadline. You always think it won't happen to you, until it does. We tend to blind ourselves from the facts because it's easier.

Needless to say there was nothing that I could do to recover my files and I needed to start all over again. Now I am prepared with my flash drives, online storage and some CD's. All of my files are safe and sound, and I am now a spokesperson for data storage, any form of storage is better than nothing at all.
