The Many Advantages Of A Disk Backup
Backing up your hard disk drive is one of the most important things that you can do to protect the valuable information that you have on your computer. Right off the bat you may not think that you have anything on your computer worth getting upset about if your computer was to die. But think about it, do you have your digital photos stored on your computer, the ones of that vacation you took to Jamaica, or of your children. Can you ever replace those, NO!
Often we go through each day thinking that there is no chance of the unspeakable happening to us. I know that's exactly what I thought, until one day my home computer crashed and there was no way to recover any of my files. All of my digital pictures of my kids from Christmas, Easter, and the 4th of July were lost forever, and I was left with only a few pictures that I printed out. I don't know why I never put them on a CD or uploaded them to an online storage site, but I can tell you what I have been doing that ever since that horrible day.
Don't learn the hard way as I had too. Begin backing up your hard drive and protecting them. And the only way that you can protect your files from vanishing into thin air is to perform a hard disk backup, back them up on a flash drive, a website, or go and get an external hard drive. All of these products are fairly cheap. You will need to also purchase a backup program, it will help to organize your files on your hard disk drive so that you can easily begin to back them up. You should be doing a disk backup daily, weekly or monthly, depending on how much you use your computer. If you are constantly taking pictures with your digital camera, or downloading MP3 songs off the internet then you will need to do a daily disk backup. You don't want to lose any bit of those files.
There is no warning before your hard drive crashes, it just all of a sudden out of the blue dies. Even with all of the available programs out there to help to preserve the life of your computer there is no guarantee that it won't happen to you. The antivirus and spyware software are important to have on your computer, and can do a lot of good, if you are constantly updating them. There are new strains of viruses being unleashed on the internet daily, so you need to keep your software up to date.
